DESCRIPTIONS FOR TYPICAL STUDENT JOBS
The descriptions below are from my students' resumes. By being factual and specific, you can show valuable experiences and skills from common student-held jobs and activities.
Description of a summer job as a life guard/swim instructor at a day camp:
"Acted as a certified CPR/Lifeguard providing supervision and protection for approximately twenty-five campers; served as a swim instructor working with children (six to ten years) in groups of five using approved curriculum; operated as a morning and afternoon bus coordinator, coordinating the transport of approximately twenty campers per day."
Description of a summer job as an assistant unit head at a day camp:
"Responsible for planning and executing activities for entire third grade unit (100 campers); primary counselor for a group of 15 campers; worked closely with camp social worker to solve behavioral problems."
Description of a weekend job as a religious school teacher:
"Introduced a class of six students to the Hebrew language; created lesson plans educating students on holidays, traditions, and values; established a safe and positive learning environment for all students addressing individual learning styles."
